Prof. Dr. George N. Papageorgiou is a Full Professor of Management and Information Systems at the European University Cyprus. He is also the Director of the SYSTEMA Research Centre of EUC, and he is a voting member of the European Committee for Standardization CEN/ISO. He has over 30 years of experience as an educator, consultant and researcher participating in numerous European-funded projects as coordinator and research associate. Further, he has held positions as a visiting professor at universities in Europe, China, and USA. Prof. Papageorgiou has been awarded three Post-Doctoral Fellowships, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the City University of London, a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Kent and a First Class (Honours) Bachelor of Engineering (Beng) Degree from the City University of London. Further, he has served as a member of numerous academic and professional societies including the IEEE, and has been elected as president of the Cyprus IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society (ITSS). Prof. Papageorgiou has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers in renowned scientific journals and conference proceedings such as the “IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics”, “IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Proceedings”, the Journal Automatika, “Sustainable Production and Consumption”, and “Energy Strategy Reviews”. He also regularly serves as a peer reviewer for scientific journals and is on the Editorial Board of numerous academic journals. Further, he has been awarded titles such as the “FH Russell Memorial Prize” for excellence in research, and “Best Paper” awards, and has repeatedly been invited by the European Commission as an EXPERT for the evaluation of large-scale research project proposals for the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation program.
