Dr. Katerina Hadjigeorgiou is an accomplished researcher with a PhD, Master’s, and Bachelor’s Degree in
Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Cyprus, and an additional Master’s in Human
Resource Management & Organizational Behavior from the Cyprus International Institute of
Management. Her research is pioneering in the field of medical diagnostics, focusing on the use of
Raman spectroscopy enhanced with nanoparticles for the rapid diagnosis of urinary tract infections.
Dr. Hadjigeorgiou's work has been widely recognized, earning her the “Best e-Facilitator” award at the
AllDigitalAwards in 2020. She is also actively engaged in educational robotics, mentoring students to
success in national and international competitions. Her publications include significant contributions on
the identification and antibiotic sensitivity of UTI pathogens using Raman spectroscopy.
As a member of the System Research Center, Dr. Hadjigeorgiou brings her expertise in electrical
engineering and her innovative approach to medical diagnostics, enhancing the center’s research
capabilities in health technology.
